Jay-Zs Cannabis business, The parent company (OTC: GRAMF).

This time was the lucky recipient of that honor Peakz, a cannabis brand founded by Jessie Grundy in 2018.

Grundy founded Peakz after gaining a distribution license under Oakland’s social equity program. Since then, this one-man operation has successfully made a name for itself in the California market.

Peakz products are now available on The Parent Company’s direct-to-consumer platforms and retail locations, leveraging the brand’s current consumer base to further build awareness and momentum around Peakz.

Comment on the investment, Steve Allan, CEO of TPCO, Benzinga said, “As the founder and CEO of Peakz, Jessie Grundy remains on the cutting edge of cannabis market trends. His dedication to growing the Peakz brand made this a natural fit for The Parent Company’s second investment in a social equity venture fund.

“We look forward to our ongoing partnership and continued success for Peakz in the emerging legal cannabis industry as we continue to work to break down the systematic barriers that black and other minority entrepreneurs face in the legal cannabis industry.”

Grundy added, “I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with The Parent Company and leverage their extensive network to grow my business. There is a tremendous need for funding and support in the cannabis industry, and without it, entrepreneurs will continue to struggle to gain a foothold in the legal market. “
